Youth Services
As part of KUCD's 24-Hour Designathon 2015, I served as Group Leader on Reading Public Library’s Youth Services division. Over a 24-hour period, we Illustrated and designed a brochure, social media post ideas, bookmarks, posters and art that could be campaigned out by the library's in-house volunteer designers.
RPL requested marketing collateral for children, teens and their families. The materials would encourage young people to spend more time at the library. Due to budgetary constraints, the work had to be easily reproduceable on standard-size papers and to be assembled by volunteers. With longengevity in mind, images of events, people and spaces within the library were omitted from the project.
The illustration style was heavily inspired by the work of Charley Harper and mid-century modern design.
The brochure's format was used to tell a simple story of birds flying from the wilderness to the library in the city.
